Boosting Indian business students in a big way

As a graduate student at The Fuqua School of Business, one of the things Javed Tapia M.B.A.’91, P’19, P’21 harnessed was how best to maximize his entrepreneurial aspirations.

He quickly put those skills to the test by being at the forefront of the open source revolution in India, inspiring open collaboration among many communities in South Asia and around the globe. Tapia also uses the skillset every day as an entrepreneur leading the Clover Group of companies, with myriad business offerings including information technology, digital payments and fintech, renewable energy, and real estate.

To provide opportunities for future business students who have high aspirations, Tapia and his company established an endowed merit scholarship for students from India. The fund supports students with great academic achievement who would not be able to come to Fuqua without a scholarship. Tapia also continues his bond with Duke as a Fuqua Alumni Ambassador and a member of Fuqua's India Alumni Advisory Board.
